If you love listening to internet radio but hate how it slows up your computer then the NOXON Launch iRadio Cube is just what you need.

The iRadio Cube is being promoted as a small yet smart internet radio and from it’s list of features it sounds like that’s exactly what it is.

Just What Can The iRadio Cube Offer You?

The NOXON iRadio Cube will allow you to access over 11,000 stations from all around the world, thousands of Podcasts of just about every subject you can think of and connect up to Napster (which you can use FREE for the first month). And if that wasn’t enough it also has an integrated FM trunner and automatic firmwire updates.

But don’t think it’s all about what it can do. The NOXON iRadio Cube is as sexy as it is clever, designed with a faux piano lacquer finish, and the price at £169 is pretty impressive too!

The only downside is it’s not out yet, but don’t worry as soon as it is I’ll let you know!

Are you worried about the safety of your home, or simply what people are getting up to when you’re not there?

With Digital PrivateEye Clock from Swann Security you can find out.

The new Digital PrivateEye Clock may just look like a digital clock, but is actually something a whole lot clever.

This digital clock will not only tell you the time, but take discreet still images, to a distance of 5 metre, when motion is detected.

These images are stamped with then stamped with the time and date before being recorded onto a 256MB SD card (which holds up to 3000 images) that can be removed and loaded up onto your computer.

Faz Colbhie, Swann Security’s UK Sales Manager thinks it’s a real winner:

“The Swann Digital PrivateEye Clock is perfect for use at work or at home. Featuring a miniature pinhole camera hidden inside a functional digital clock, it’s ideal for all those who want reliable covert security at a competitive price”

And I have to say I do too - who’s going to suspect that a digital clock is taking their photo… actually having said that this clock does look a bit funny…

Think this is the solution to your home security worries? Now’s definitely the time to buy, because for a limited period you can buy the Swann Digital PrivateEye Clock for a mere £79.99 (usual price £119.99) at Maplin.

If you’re looking for a simple, yet effective way to secure your home and garden the new OutdoorCam™ from Swann Security might just be what you’re looking for.

This camera is suitable for both outdoor and indoor use, and whilst it’s promoted as a entry level security camera, it’s still packed full of benefits.

The first is it’s casing, which is entirely metal. Why is this of such a benefit? Because it means the camera has a sunshield, when outside and a protection from dust inside.

The second is it’s auto light sensor. This nifty feature ensure you get perfect picture, day or night. How is this possible? Because the OutdoorCam automatically switched from clear colour, to black and white night vision at night, which can see an amazing 5 metres!

You can’t deny the camera sounds good can you, but what about the most important bit – viewing the footage?

Well that’s just as good – this camera can easily be used in conjunction with your TV, VCR, DVR, quad processor or LCD monitor, meaning you always know what’s going on.

So how much does a security camera capable of doing all you’d want it to do cost? £200? £100?

Nope. A mere £59.99 from Maplins, which I think you’ll agree is a small price to pay for knowing your house is secure.

Find out more and order the Swann Security OutdoorCam at Maplin now.

If you want to be able to speak to people face to face when they’re on the other side of the world then you’re going to need a webcam.

If you’ve got a new laptop you may already have one incorporated but if like me you’re still typing away on a desktop it’s likely you’re webcam less.

So what do you need to consider when you buy one?

Well first is what you’ll be using it for.

What type of webcam do you need?

The type of webcam you need will depend on what you want to use it with. If you want to use your webcam with a laptop then you’ll want to go with a portable webcam like the Samsung Pleomax.

If you want to buy one for use with your desktop you can get something a bit more substantial like the Creative Optia AF Webcam (currently available online for £44.79, usual price £79.99!)

What features do I want?

There are a range of features you can get with webcams. Some are more essential than others so it’s important to consider what you want to use it for before you spend money on features you don’t want.

Features you’re likely to see include:

Digital Zoom - this will allow you to zoom in and out, useful if you’re going to be a distance away from the webcam, otherwise not quite sure what you’d use it for!

DPI - DPI is concerned with the revolution of the webcam. Basically you want to get as high a number as possible. Make sure you check the video DPI and not just the photo DPI as these can be very different.

Microphone - If you haven’t got a headset or a good microphone built into your computer then you’re going to need to get a webcam complete with microphone.

How much should you spend?

That very much depends on what you want. You could spend hundreds on top of the range webcams but it’s going to be a waste of money if you don’t make use of the features such as panning and tilting (like CCTV cameras).

Personally I’d say spend around £30+ to get something that will provide you with a decent image and sound.

Where should I buy from?

It’s really worth shopping around and is definitely worth buying online as prices are much lower than on the high street. Places that are really worth checking out include PC World, SVP Communications, Techfocus, Maplin, EuroPc and Micro Direct.

So that’s it my simple guide to buying a webcam. If you have any feedback or additional tips please add them below. I am also going to try and get hold of some webcams for webcam reviews so make sure you check back before you buy!

The problem with listening to anything on the computer with headphones is that you have to keep yanking them out to use the PC Speakers.

That was until the Sandberg USB Headset arrived on the scene because it allows you to do both.

I’ll be honest and admit I never thought this was a real issue but after I played about with a set over the weekend I’ve changed my mind.

The Sandberg USB Headset is a true timesaver.

No longer was I having to plug and unplug cables between Skype calls to listen to my music on the speakers.

The Sandberg USB Headset allowed me to have programs set up to work via one or the other - all possible because the Sandberg USB ChatSet installs in Windows as a separate sound card when the USB connector is inserted.

So would I recommend you buy one?

If you rarely have the sound on when you use your computer and never use things such as Skype then the Sandberg USB Headset isn’t going to be for you.

If however you’re always using VOIP services, playing games and listening to music then the answer is a definitely yes.

In fact once you’ve got it you’ll wonder how you did without!

The Sandberg USB headset retails for £19.99 at Sandberg or £13.11 at Amazon
