This review is different from any I’ve done before and that’s because I’m typing it on the Sandberg Wireless Touchpad Keyboard.
This keyboard is something a bit special and it’s for a number of reasons:
1. The Keyboard is wireless
I’m currently typing this on the table where my desktop is. Now that’s great. It’s nice to not have any wires. But what’s cooler is I go go ten metres away and still carry on typing. I’ll admit in my setup that’s probably not going to be too useful. It is however if you’re lucky enough to have a computer that operates through your television because you can operate via the keyboard whilst curled up on the sofa.
2. The Mouse is inbuilt as a touchpad
When I first heard about the Sandberg Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Set I have to admit I thought so what. There are a whole range of wireless sets on the market.
The Sandberg however is something a bit different because its mouse is inbuilt as a touchpad. This means you can truly operate your whole computer from one place.
But how easy is it to use? Well I’ll admit I’ll still switching from touchpad to my old mouse but that’s as much down to habit. The touchpad is really responsive when I do remember to use it and I like how the touchpad (positioned on the right) is seperate from the left and right buttons (positioned on top left) - it looks odd but is incredibly usable.
3. It’s covered in shortcut buttons
My Dell keyboard is completely and utterly shortcutless (unless you count the Windows button). The Sandberg Wireless Keyboard is like shortcut heaven. So far I’ve popped up the calculator, turned the volume up and down, checked my email, opened Control Panel and there’s still lots of buttons waiting for me to press them…
So what do I think of the Sandberg Wireless Keyboard and Mouse set?
I’m surprised to say I really like it. I will warn you it takes getting used to - the ergonomic keyboard will have you hitting the wrong keys for a while and you’ll keep forgetting about the mouse -but once you do you’ll find it make life a whole lot easier.
There is only one negative - the need for batteries in the keyboard. I know it’s obviously impossible to run a keyboard wirelessly without power but the addition of rechargeable batteries would have been great.
The Sandberg Wireless Keyboard and Mouse set is available for £49.99 from Amazon.
